The Ministry of Entrepreneurship

God has blessed many believers with entrepreneurial ideas that bring value to others and these ideas are supposed to bring profits too.

How many members in your congregation are entrepreneurs or business owners or aspire to be?

It’s estimated that 27 million Americans will leave the traditional workforce in favor of full-time self-employment by 2020.

Does your organization have a small business, entrepreneur startup course or designated ministry exposing the foundational business principles of starting and sustaining successful businesses?

Per the attached document: “Right now, very few — I would say in my experience — less than 5 percent of churches are thinking about the future, that is, the coming disruption of economics… creating for-profit businesses to generate more revenue [for Kingdom building].” (DeYmaz)

We’re you aware that:

–     95% of businesses fail within the first 5 years?

–     Only 40% of small businesses are profitable
–     Only 30% “break even” (total revenues equal total overhead expenses)

–     Most entrepreneurs are not millennials. The average entrepreneur who’s started a business and went on to hire at least one employee is 42 years old.

Who’s starting small businesses today?

Gender:

·      73% identify as male

·      25% identify as female

Ethnicity:

·      White/Caucasian – 71%

·      Black/African American – 7%

·      Hispanic/Latino – 6%

·      Asian/Pacific Islander – 11%

·      Other – 5%

Majority of entrepreneurs fund their business with their personal savings and employment income.

  •       65% admitted to not being fully confident they had enough money to start their business
  •      80% of entrepreneurs funded their business out of pocket.
  •      93% said they calculated a potential run rate of shorter than 18 months.

Here’s the truth, too many entrepreneurs underestimate or don’t understand the value of budgeting and forecasting for their business. According to a U.S. Bank study, 82% of businesses that fail do so because of cash-flow problems. It’s important to analyze a company’s cash-flow to be prepared and ensure business surplus and deficits are always known. Budgeting is the foundation of a prosperous business.

Having a knowledgeable Entrepreneur Ministry allows business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs the room to build a solid foundation for their success offering additional finances to the church they attend.

My hope is that the failure rate in business will decrease as businesses began to profit tremendously and give back to the Kingdom. 62% of U.S. Billionaires are self-made. It is my prayer that your congregation will birth the next one!

I’d love the opportunity to talk with you more on the importance of this need being fulfilled within your church, the chance for your organization to sponsor businesses in need of these services and how I can serve as an ongoing resource.
